Not sure where to put this thread.... training, health, food...ewe :headshake:
Anyway, a few days ago, I caught HaHa eating a frozen dog stool....and since then every time I've let him out, he's been digging into the snow and finding more treats...then this morning, I found Jaya with her head planted down in the snow where HaHa had dug and it looked like she was getting a snack too.
I looked on line and found that meat tenderizer can help poo taste nasty, (and I laugh as I type that!)
But also there is a product called For Bid that is suppose to do the same, it's more expensive...but seems to be very effective.
The only thing that bothers me is the For Bid has MSG - monosodium glutamate in it, it's used as a flavor enhancer in many packaged foods. At age 32 I ended up with an allergy of that stuff - broke out in hives and it took me months to narrow down what it was, and in reading about it over the years, I consider it almost a poison.
I suppose giving it to my dogs for a short time won't do any harm, but I was wondering if any one who's had a poo eating dog has ever tried the meat tenderizer...and if so, did it work and is one still needing to find a meat tenderizer with MSG in it for it to work? I see that Adolf's Meat Tenderizer doesn't have MSG in it.
I also read about reasons why dogs eat poo, and I don't think it's their diet. I've had these dogs for several years and their dog food hasn't really changed all that much especially in the past 4 or 5 months. I think HaHa just likes to pick things up and have them in his mouth...and one day he picked up a frozen poo and found out he liked the taste. I can't do anything with yard clean up until spring...the snow is too deep in most areas and in some areas packed down and very slick...with my bad back, I can't risk a fall.
