Hey

So next month im ordering Jessie whole prey model raw pieces and doing the 80 10 10 ratio. However when it comes to organs if she is allergic to lamb meat will she be allergic/sensitive to lamb kidneys? i know the heart is meat.

Also i need 3kg or 4kg of food for Jessie from this store :
SubCategories

i need to balance it right and since she has only been on prey model raw pre made from Raw dog food Wellington Raw meat diet for dogs Kapiti it will be ok? however its the organs that concern me if she will eat them. she has from the website the rabbit venison and lamb tripe mix with rabbit and goat, rabbit pieces.

I know i need organs, meat and heart , offal. got enough food for a month

Rotating that way in the beginning is really best. One protein at a time for a couple of weeks at a time just to watch for any possible allergy issues. That way you know what protein is the culprit, but after transition try to give something different each day.

Lamb ribs are a good bone source, so are lamb shoulders. Those are easy to chew and digest. Stay away from the weight bearing bones. Brisket should be fine as well.
Good to know its best to start with one protien a week thinking might start with veal or venison. have to start slowly due to suspected colitis where she always had direha for few weeks, straining even after finishing pooping, her back arched alot and even if i gave bone in piece she still had diareha.

i had to simplify her diet because i was rotating every two days with following:

Venison and liver
duck and possum
duck necks
possum pieces
rabbit and goat
rabbit goat and tripe

So i had to on vets advice for 3 months only feed rabbit and goat and rabbit goat and tripe with tripe on days just rabbit and goat. It worked and slowly very slowly tried duck neck she vomited and had direha though she did have wormer that day too and they really make her vomit.

So far no vomit with teh lamb i havent seen if she pooped yet so will keep updated once i notice poo on the lawn or see her poo. She can only have rabbit venison and tripe and rabbit and goat with the ovine tripe seperate from current food company so just glad changing since they really made me unhappy. Fancy claiming i owned them 50$ when i didnt and that within a week of ordering her food! then rude emails and invoicing me two-three times and sending so formal emails compared to what used to get. Just glad changing to woofles. Oh and learnt from a friend of mine who i reccomended the company to a few months ago she stopped going there in the end as they were too pushy with the duck necks with her cats who cant handle the massive duck necks they sell they didnt beleive her because their cats can handle them! i was shocked to hear it.

Will be going with paelo ridge raw in UK as so far they have more variety for Jessie. Jessie is so much better on raw she used to be pudgy on raw where as since went on pre made raw she is so lean and fit looking, she has some shine to her coat and its soft to brush and touch. her teeth i hardly brush.

Also her health is so much better! no cystitis, urine infections, no urine crystals or PH problems! Allergies so so much better too only enviromental now. I am so so relieved and happy about it all!
pics of her to see how lean she is( did have number 1 hair cut due to getting really hot for her. can def see the australian terrier in her now aside from personality

Sounds like things are going well! Yea, pushing you to buy something is aggravating. I think I would be buying from somewhere else too.

Thankfully they didnt push me food wise because they knew of her allergies and intolerances and suspected colitis so i was lucky there but they were pushing for me to pay what i didnt owe even though i emailed them responses with bank statements!

so i had enough and rang up and they admit it was thier mistake. Then i order food for her and i get given food and invoice on arrival of goods and paid right away as i was late accidentally a few times. Well that night i get invoiced again for it and you can imagine how id react to that after the mix up with invoices?!

Then i made a complaint and teh reply was good so i thought all good now but it wasnt it seemed. So i had to order last week they send the most formal email ever and though i only wanted x4 rabbit venison and tripe at first realised i only needed x3 of those and emailed them to tell them but x4 was on invoice. So had to email them again then they corrected it. Since they invoiced me right away why give invoice again on paper with order and get firm and say this is the new layout yeah i knew that.

Was prepared to give them another chance till the formal rude untrusting email.
I am glad i got her off the k9 natural pre made raw and then onto the current food since Jan/feb because i am now getting more confident to do the non pre made prey model raw and thanks for your help very helpful and appreciated. I shall keep this thread updated especially when she starts it and get off the pre made prey model raw! I hope she will eat organs with no problem since they in the pre made raw she on now.

She looks great Janine! Very fit and healthy girl :) Also glad to hear she is doing ok on the lamb so far! Hope she continues to do well....It'll be really great for you to be able to use lamb as another protein to keep her diet varied.

Thanks Donna! what a compliment! she sure does look fit and now can truly see australian terrier body! unfortunately Jessie is keeping us in suspense poop wise :( she gave indications to go last night but wont go poop even checked backyard today nothing. i swear she likes to keep me wondering if the lamb has been ok poop wise! otherwise no adverse reactions no gas, no vomiting, no red skin or itching. She must need to go tonight or tommorow for a poop though! picked poo up 2 days ago.
She finally put us out if the suspense Looks! like the lamb agreed with her system! Hooray she CAN have [email protected] is right it must of been something in the k9 natural ingredients that caused her hair loss and red belly and itching! Thank Donna for asking if tried raw lamb itself and pointing out the ingredients etc!

Walking home when she went. Im so over the moon!

LOL tbh its really hard to find places that sell organs here! my own supermarket i go to dont even sell those! you have to go further into the city or thorndon or the hutts or order via woofles etc. Butchers sell some things you need but not all.

Just wanted to save the cost of buying those from woofles lol those kidneys should last some time! yet to weigh them one by one and put into bags same for the rest of the stuff. I thought they were bargains!

heard with heart to go slowly? (on my post in comment from RFC chat on facebook) i hope heart is easy to cut up. Told my dad i will be using kitchen tongs and a knife so i dont have to handle those things. he gave me funny look and i said you think im going to hold those with my hands you got another think coming and that even with her pre made stuff she on that ive used tongs all along because its gross. esp that tripe ugh.

He also wasnt impressed when i told him when the raw food reaches mum she is going to at least prep a weeks food for her as theres a few days till i get there. he looked disgusted and not impressed lol.

my mum is now in UK as im sure you seen on the grandma please dont leave me thread? i also got told to feed tripe when feeding organ but you can feed other meat tehn tripe right? i hate tripe lol of course Jess loves it. dad saw a pigs stomach yesterday i said no thanks not getting that my excuse was it looked bleached and you cant feed it to dogs if its bleached.

Yes, go very slowly with heart in the beginning, its very rich and you will have cannon butt otherwise. Its good to feed something with bone at the same time. That can help decrease the chances of cannon butt in case you feed too much. But its no guarantee! Just a little at a time.

You don't have to feed tripe. I never have, but some feed it regular. Its up to you. And yes, the white tripe you find in stores has been washed and bleached, so there is basically no nutrition at all. Don't feed that. Feed the raw, green tripe not intended for humans.
Pigs stomach what color should it be? It was white looking. Maybe feed say 20g heart with bone in then increase daily by 20g till she can handle it?

Rather not feed tripe but heard its good for when feeding organ so jo cannon butt?
I don't know about the stomach, I don't feed it. But if it's white like the store bought tripe, intended for humans then it has probably been bleached as well.

I wouldn't think tripe would help prevent cannon butt. I have never heard that. As rich as heart is, I would stick to adding bone to help with that. And yes, it sounds like you have the right idea with how you are thinking of starting with the heart, I would do that way for sure.

It was white for sure i saw it with my own eyes and said to dad i cant feed that if its white because it will have been bleached and you cant feed if been bleached. So dad is learning alot and i may not post much in the raw feeding community on facebook or at all at times but i do read through RFC chat and see some posts where i learn a few things or so. that being one of them.

So glad i started this thread as you all so helpful and its building my confidence in balancing things out.

saw some lamb bones but werent sure if weight bearing or not so left them but honest it was this big tray for $3! were small pieces too.

what are classed as weight bearing bones? anything not sure on will post questions here :) im also hoping she slows down a bit when eating as she gobbles her food down i know the labs are fed dry food acana light and fit but to beat a lab at eating and such a little dog is amazing! even the CGC asssesor remarked on that and laughed thinking there would be food left after i patted her whilst eating nad then removed the dish. nothing left i wish i video his reaction was priceless

Weight bearing bones are the leg/marrow bones of large animals like cow, elk, deer, buffalo, sheep, etc....

@naturalfeddogs @TiggerBounce can you honestly say this dog would starve? looking at photos we have top 2 rows rabbit venison and tripe which goes to bottom right hand side, next down is rabbit and goat, then minced green tripe.

next pic we have a rabbit shoulder, turkey mince and somewhere there pork to try.

Dad laughed when i showed him today my freezer and said in a earthquake Jessie wouldnt starve. I was thinking @LoveMyFosters belle could eat that in a day to maintain her weight feeding the 12 pups! none of that is my meat or food.

So im thinking theres something going on here and a couple people on facebook RFC chat think its the venison. basically twice a month she gets really bad farts for a few days then eventually goes poop and until last few days she was going daily i saw that with my own eyes over the last week now that seems to have stopped as of 2 days ago. 3 days ago the bad farts started and just getting worse and so frequent she looks miserable. Given her a rabbit shoulder and some green tripe today minced version.

Going to see if i can sell the rabbit venison and tripe mix once i get this order
