I quess my question is do you think it is good to raise your pet with a playmate? Our beagle is 9 months old and very active and seems to get along well with other dogs at play time at the neighbors with her 2 labs. She is in constant need of our attention and some people suggested getting a second dog for her to play with. Any thoughts on that?

Hi and Welcome to the Forum Pepper! Yes, if you have the time for another dog, I would deffinately get playmate for her. Beagles are very pack oriented and do best in pairs or threes from what I have been told by other beagal owners. Plus I think dogs really like having another dog to be with.

yes

Yes I agree. I just got a playmate for my white schnauzer Buddy. My 14 year old schnauzer died last year and Buddy seemed lonely. So I found a Schnoodle and named him Charlie for my Buddy. Buddy is so happy he runs and plays. And when he has enough of Charlie he goes in his crate and shuts the door so he can get away from Charlie. It is so funny.
