I love those pictures! Well photographed 😉 Are they both yours? Related? They are so beautiful against the white snow background.
Thank you! No they are not both mine, and not related. Spirit lives across the street, she is about 2 yrs. older than Cache, has known him since he was a was a small pup and was wonderful, so gentle with him, (although 'gentle' is not how they play now!) at teaching him appropriate social skills and how to play 'like a border collie'.

These really warm my heart - Joseph didn't particularly 'like' Cache when he was little, didn't want anything to do with him, but once Cache grew a bit and behaved more 'like a dog' (in Joseph's eyes) and with some help from us, he figured out what a wonderful playmate Cache could be!

Cache is 'buffing' up for summer!!

Nothing better than a flirt pole to play tug with!

Cache is GEORGEOUS!
Thank you!
Have been thinking about getting another like him, (or perhaps a lab), haven't really decided yet, but I suppose when the time is right, it will happen!!

They are a lot fun, keeping a sense of humor is a 'must'! They both have an easy to find 'off switch', so not really that difficult to deal with their energy and spunk!

A few days ago I mentioned that I had been thinking about getting another pup. I had been searching for quite some time, and had about given up, (for now) when I happened upon a rehoming situation for a 6 month old border collie/Australian shepherd pup. After meeting the pup, and doing a 'meet and greet' to see how things would go with our two, Oakley joined our family yesterday! Once he settles in and adjusts to the huge change in his life, it is really hard for him, I am sure that there will be plenty of playtimes to come!!

Joseph is not too sure about him yet, it usually takes him a little while.

Yes, sniffing the ground is a 'calming behavior' for the dog doing it and a 'calming signal' to the other dog. To encourage them both to do it, and facilitate a calm introduction, I had sprinkled the ground, in several areas spaced well apart with treats.

Unfortunately, Oakley was pretty rude when he met Cache, went running up to him typical exuberant, 6 month old puppy 'Let's play!!!' fashion and got himself quickly reprimanded by Cache. He learned quickly that such rude behavior is not tolerated, and did not make the same mistake with Joseph!

Last night Cache was teaching Oakley how to wrestle, it appears Oakley caught onto the 'how to's' pretty quickly!

Awwwww so adorable, the faces 😂

^^that makes me want a second dog!
We have always had more than one dog at a time, had six for quite a while, it was a lot of work and a ton of fun, and it was absolutely fascinating to watch how they communicated with each other.

I know when people give up a dog others will all sorts of assumptions and negativity about why they did so. I want to give Oakley's previous family a LOT of credit, he was truly a loved pup, and it was heartbreaking for them to let him go. They did everything right by him, including their training methods, making sure was well socialized and rehoming him (after screening multiple offers to take him) when they realized he was not a good fit for their family. They handled him with kindness and understanding, used positive teaching methods, taught him a lot, took him to dog daycare to socialize with other pups. These are not people who got a puppy on a whim, they are truly 'dog people' and I honestly feel badly for them, my heart hurts for them.

So many things I love about Oakley, (already) including his 'wiggle butt' and the 'zipper' he has on his nose, he truly is a sweetheart, and settling in to our routine quite quickly.

Pretty sure Cache is enjoying having a playmate who has as much energy as he does, maybe a little more!!

Oakley's skills have refined just a bit, and he now 'get's it' when Cache asks him to calm down, take a break for a few minutes!
