I have been noticing that a lot of people have been posting threads for help with funding their dog's vet bills. I thought that although I cannot necessarily help these people out with a donation I might offer a bit of advice.
When we adopted my dog from a rescue foundation they had a requirement to purchase pet insurance along with his adoption fee. I always though pet insurance was a total scam but it has actually helped us out tremendously.
Our dog was bitten by a rattlesnake which cost us $1500 and VPI pet insurance paid us out $1300 for that. He also got a foxtail up his nose which cost $600 and they paid $400 of that. Most recently he was attacked by a coyote which cost us $500 and they paid $400. It has really helped us out a lot. Our pup is too curious for his own good and it seems that for young dogs who are getting into trouble a lot, pet insurance is a good buy.
