I've been told not to take my 8-9 week old puppy for walks where other dogs frequent. I'm wondering about socialising our puppy in our home with another dog we know that's up to date on her vaccines. My question is can a dog that's had all her vaccines still be a carrier of the parvovirus? I really want my puppy to have exposure to other dogs as soon as possible but I want him to be safe.

Socializing with other vaccinated gentle adult dogs in your home is fine. Most puppy classes can be started after the second round of puppy vaccines. Congratulations on your new puppy!

At the age of your puppy, it should have had it's first shot so should be alright with a vaccinated known dog as long as parvo is not a great problem in your area. Some adult dogs do not like puppies at that age, some love them, so choose carefully as it is better no socialization at this age then the wrong thing happening and your puppy getting scared.

Sign your puppy up for puppy classes/puppy playgroups. Also like everyone said it's perfectly fine for your dog to meet dogs you know for sure are vaccinated and friendly. Just avoid things like dog parks for the next two months. That's where you can find bad germs.
