Hello! My dad brought home something for my dog. It is from a company called Omaha steaks, and it is the maple smoked pig ear slices. Do you think this is safe for my puppy?

My puppy is:
3 months old
Has been given bully sticks and normal pig ears without problems

Please help! I want to make sure this is safe for my dog before giving it!

**I am aware of the risks of salmonella, and other risks from pig ears. I was just wondering if the "maple smoked" part of it was safe and if any of you have experience feeding these to your 4 legged friend.

I would be careful with giving a puppy pig ears either way due to the high fat content which often a puppies stomach can’t handle. And the risk of them choking on a piece.

In addition you’re not recommended to give your puppy smoked meat since this can cause an upset stomach on itself (i.e vomiting and diarrhea). I believe that the preservative that are commonly used for these products also can contribute to health problems.

So because of all this I wouldn’t consider them to be especially safe for puppies, no.
