Hello all. I'm in need of advice/ re assurance. I have a 6month old puppy that was recently in an accident with another dog and was trampled. Resulting in both my puppys rear legs being dislocated. When brought to vet they said he would need and fho I believe it was called. Both hips where dislocated Because he also suffers from a small breed hip problem. Now he is only walking on one rear leg. Can't use bathroom. Eat or drink water. I am in process of scedualing surgery. Money is not the issue here. I'm just worried about his quality of life after. Will he be able to live a happy/ half normal life after? Or will he be suffering. Am I doing the moral thing doing this surgery? What are your thoughts? Anyone went through something familiar? Thank you all.

I'm so sorry your puppy had such a severe injury. At this point, I think your vet would be the best person to what your pup's chances are of recovery and what his quality of life may be after, but I'm inclined to think that a vet wouldn't even suggest surgery if there wasn't a good chance of him recovering and having a normal life.

I will say that I've seen perfectly happy and healthy and active dogs running around on three legs and ones using wheelchairs because of paralysis, so even if he doesn't regain full function of his legs, it doesn't necessarily mean a diminished quality of life.

I'll keep you and your pup in my thoughts and hope for the best for him.

Welcome to the forum. I'm sorry that what brought you here was a sad matter, but I hope you get the help and info you need. :)
