I have a 3 year old dog that we successfully crate trained for house training. in the last year though we folded up the crates and put them away. (our dog is very spoiled and is allowed on all furniture and our bed so they just werent being used anymore.) We are getting a new puppy at the end of the month, and i was just wondering if our adult dog will think the crates are for him when we get them back out? has anyone had anything like that happen, and if so what did you do? Should i get the crates out now so he is used to them being there again before the puppy comes home? all opinions and advice are appreciated, Thanks!

What concerns you about your older dog thinking they are for him? If he viewed the crate as a safe happy place, the worst that could happen is he wants to go in and use it himself - so get a second one for the puppy. Or am I missing something?

we have 2 of them one for downstairs and one for in our bedroom. I suppose I was more worried about territorial behavior? I have only ever owned 1 dog at a time so I guess Im worried in general about introducing a puppy to our house and making sure our other dog accepts it and have just been thinking about every possible situation haha
