Hello

i just signed up here because i have a problem with my dog i googled and i found this site, so i tought i could get some advice from some dog owners.

english is not my native language, but i hope you will understand anyway.

Ok, so i got this dog he is a puppy 4 months old.
he's a mixed breed, i dont know exactly which breed since i only know his mom and she's already a mix.

he's a good dog he listens very well when we are indoors, but as soon as we get out he gets crazy.
He is barking and growling at every dog we see outside, he seems like a very agressive dog but the thing is if i let him get close to the other dog he just wants to play.


he's also barking at little kids, or old lady's, i live in the center of a very busy city, which means as soon as we walk out of the door we are immediately surrounded by lots of people.

also my neighbours are getting annoyed because he's barking so much, they think he is agressive, so if i don't find a solution i may have to bring him to a shelter because im sure i will get alot of complaints.

i just want to know if somebody has had an similar expirience with his dog and what i can do to correct this behavior, because when he see's another dog he does not pay attention to me at all.

He's probably just overstimulated, because he's too excited to go outside.
make sure to slowly get him used and socialise him to all kind of places (public transport, taxis, train stations, the zoo, cafés and restaurants, shopping malls) in a calm way.

Barking is normal for a dog. but it can be too much. talking with a trainer/behaviourist could be of help for you.
I'd keep him inside the house when he barks so much, so that he can't annoy the neighbours. walking him somewhere away from the house can also help. perhaps drive out of town and walk there.
a well exercised dog is likely to bark less (because it sleeps) than a bored dog with tons of pent-up energy, but please don't over do it with exercising.
a walk of around half an hour is okay for a 4 month old... please don't walk too far too fast, because it can damage the growing joints and ligaments.
instead of that make sure to mentally exercise your dog by training and games challenging the brain.
