So My male rottie cross 'Gibbs' has ben showing some very odd behaviours recently.

He seems terrified to come into the bedroom, where he normally sleeps,(and has done for the last 3 years) he is allowed on the bed but now also seem terrified to go on the bed, he will go and stand in the bathroom (next to bedroom) and he will peer around the corner as if to see its safe.

He won't settle now of a night. He sits up looking around like there is something going on. I know their senses are crazy higher than ours but I have no idea what it is he could be reacting to?

Has anyone had this happen before with their own dogs?

Wow,that's so weird! On an episode of the Dog Whisperer, there was a dog terrified to leave a chair. I think what Caesar did was slip a collar around the dog's neck and drag him onto the ground, outside, etc. Also, Caesar did not let the dog rush back onto the chair and instead made him slowly ease himself into it.

I think maybe you could apply this method to your situation; pull Gibbs into the bedroom, and, when it's time to leave, don't allow him to run full speed out the door, but make him calmly walk instead.

I hope this was helpful! Good luck!

Caesar's methods are totally barbaric, that is the absolute worse thing you can do for any dog, and not something I am about to attempt.
He has since improved and now enters the bedroom without worry .

I'm semi-convinced my dogs see ghosts. They'll just be looking into the corner so intently. Gives me the creeeeeps.

@Shandula, when I was growing up I lived in a house that had a ghost. I could see him and so could the dogs. They would stand at the ledge of our stairway and bark angrily with hackles up randomly. I have no doubt dogs can see ghosts.

Did you ever find out who the ghost was?
No, but I never really dug into it. There was only one that I ever saw. An older tubbier man that use to wear a brown derby hat. he never went downstairs. I would only ever see him standing at my door at night. He was pretty peaceful though, never disturbing anyone, he would just stand and watch. Creepy, but over time I got over it. The dogs HATED him though. My black lab would stand on the ledge and plant her feet and bark and growl, hackles completely up, teeth barred. She was not a fan.
