Hello all.
Rosie is my 8 yr old staffordshire bull terrier. She is a rescue dog which I have had for almost 2 yrs now. She has gained some weight even though she is fed the suggested amount of food and she has been fed grain free for the last year. She began losing hair on both sides (around the rib cage) and it has progressively gotten worse. She has no sign of skin irritation, no flaking, sores, scabs or anything, just hair lost in determined areas around the rib cages. I have been reading on hair loss for dogs and instantly requested the vet do a blood test to determine is she had hypothyroidism, but that came back negative. My vet doesn't seem to have a clue where to go next. I only know that I would love to get her back to a healthy coat. Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
I finally found a more reputable Veterinarian which had a complete lab panel sent to Michigan State University laboratories. The results were negative all around for hormonal, endocrine or cushings disorders.
Rosie still has the symmetrical hair loss over the loins (as pictured) and I am wondering where to go from here. Her underbelly has been irritated and turning pinkish red so I applied some hydroquartizone cream which made that clear up almost instantly. If anyone has any other direction to send me I would really appreciate it.

I'm going to suggest my specialist: Dr. Bloom Skin & Allergy Clinic in Livonia
He's one of only 8 double boarded canine dermatologists in the nation and seeing him is what finally put an end to my Chewy's 2 years of allergy nightmares.
He is pricey, but I feel that you get what you pay for with him. It's been so worth it for me and dog. I don't know if you live anywhere near them or if it's possible to travel there but I would start with a phone call to explain your situation and see if they can help!
Seems like Cushings or maybe thyroid to me too.
Cushings is notoriously difficult to diagnose with certainty.
Might be time for a specialist if your regular vet is not figuring this out.
Edit:
Oh, nevermind... seems like you have ruled those both out.
