Hello everyone!

Just thought I share this little heartwarming discovery.

I am 22 weeks pregnant and since I became pregnant my pup has started to show guarding behavior. Not the aggressive kind

She follows me where ever I go around our apartment, right now she is lying down beside me on the couch. She either lies down by the pack and play which is near our balcony door and she would be looking outside, or by the crib in our bedroom. When daddy is about to come home, she lies down by the front door facing it waiting. When I am napping she is either in her bed near the crib, on the floor near the door or on the bed with me by my feet facing the door. She has never jumped up on me, not unless I carry her. She would wake up and watch me when I need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, then go back to sleep after I went back to bed.

When the baby things started to pour in, she was scared. My husband was shooing her away while we were assembling the crib but I told him that he should let her smell everything even the clothes, the bedding and the toys. So now everytime we buy something for the baby, my husband allows her to sniff everything before putting it away or assembling.

We have been interviewing doulas for the past week in our home and she has not been aggressive with any of them, she sniffs often times she greets with a little bark. And during the interviews she will come up to the doula and sniff some more or even give a little kiss on the hand or arm.

So far the only thing with her is she barks when she hears something outside and sometimes its in the middle of the night. We have been training her to be a little bit more quiet so that she will be ready when the little one comes.

Just so amazing how our fur baby knows that I am carrying something precious, just hope she will be gentle with the baby.

Wondering if anyone here experienced their dogs guarding them during the pregnancy and how they reacted when the baby is finally introduced to them.

I just gave birth to my second daughter a month ago (holy time flies!!). My intact male Aussie never displayed any odd behaviour during my entire pregnancy except for when my water broke--he was extremely clingy. Laid practically on top of me the entire after my waters reptured.

I had to go in the next day to get some help getting my contractions going (30 hrs after my SROM-- that SUCKED lol) and was gone for the entire day. Raider couldn't have cared less the baby arrived, he just wanted his mama back. Lily's hat that was put on her head immediately after birth was presented to raider to sniff, which he did after he fully checked to make sure I was really home.

A month after, he still isn't too concerned with her. He sniffs her, licks her, and wants to help keep her belly button clean lol.
