Just got home with him a bit ago. He's been briefly introduced to the 2 that are already here. So far so good.

He's a little one! Weighs less than 13 lbs. Tri color. He goes to the groomers tomorrow and then to be neutered on Wed. He's 5 years old. The owner had 5 shelties. I am fostering one.

My first foster so I hope I don't do anything too wrong. He ducks when I reach to pet him like someone has hit him. But he comes when called and he doesn't move away, he lets me pet him so I don't know.

He's going to be absolutely stunning when he's groomed and prettied up. His hair is pretty much a mess at the moment. I brushed some but this needs more than I can do.

Pictures for sure.

It could be that he's "protecting" his ears. The flies chewed them up something awful and they're going to require some serious care. I've been quite careful not to touch them. I'm going to leave that to the groomer and hope she can do him some good. Then I can do the follow up work, I hope.

He's been my little velcro baby this evening. Stayed very close to me all evening. I just hope all 3 of the boys sleep all night and don't decide to have a war in the middle!

Snoop is so little he doesn't even come to the top of the recliner seat

I don't know how to put pictures up here so if someone wants to do that, I'd appreciate it.

He's now been groomed and neutered. He's such a good boy! I call him my Velcro baby because he's always right next to me on the floor.

When I picked him up (an hour away), he cried, screamed, howled, yodeled, whined and other strange noises that I have never heard from a dog before....all the way home. The groomer and vet told me he did all the above for 2 days while he was getting "overhauled". I was really worried that this might be something he did a lot of.Thank God, it isn't. He just hates the crate, the cage and didn't even want me to put him in the utility room at night with the door closed. No confinement for this baby!

He hasn't made a single peep since he got home last night other than a couple of groans when he lays down. I think that's from the neutering. I'd probably groan too!

Thank you! He's just learning about treats. He wasn't real sure about them at first. But he's learned that if he watches the big boys and they do it, then it's ok for him too. He's so funny.

And I confess. If one baby gets a treat, they all do. I break them into little bites so they're not getting a lot but they do get them often.

He's getting easier with us. Not so skittish.

And he's STILL my Velcro baby. lol

Thank you!

My Velcro baby has diarrhea. :( MEGA MASSIVE I just cleaned the rugs again diarrhea.

I gave him some pumpkin awhile ago and we've had one massive blow out since so I'm hoping that will be the last one.

And thank you to the Hoover company for making a good carpet cleaner. *sigh*

It's so nasty hot and humid that he doesn't want to go outside. Period. I took him out 4 times this morning to no avail. Only to have the latest blow out on the rug.

We're not doing well in the potty training dept. And I CANNOT put him in a crate. He makes noises I've never heard before let alone from a dog! Screaming, crying, howling, yodeling, other strange noises....that all end as soon as he's out of the crate. Oh...same noises occur if I close the door and leave him in the utility room.

I can't stand them. So crating and closing in the laundry room are not options. :(

Since I can't get him to poo outside, there hasn't been any opportunity for praising him like he just won the gold medal at the Olympics. :(

Ideas welcome!!!!

Yes, I would! But I can't promise that I'll follow through with them if he gets really loud again.

He literally sounds like he's being skinned alive and I can't take much of that!

I even told the Pres of the Rescue that if he continued it, I wouldn't be able to handle it. Luckily, he quit as soon as he was uncrated!

However, I will listen attentively and see if we can make some progress with it! AND I will be very appreciative!

Also I think the pumpkin may be working. Thank goodness!!!!

Thank you! I'm going to work on that but am going to wait a day or so.

We just got back from the vet. I have cleaned carpets 3 x today. LOTS of carpet. He walks while he poos so he leaves a long trail. *sigh*

He got a shot, some goop in his mouth and some meds to take for 10 days. Doc said his little belly is just rolling and rolling so this should help that. I know that's due to the fact that he's getting good food for the first time probably. His little system is just not used to is.

I went through the same thing with my own Sheltie, Scotty and continue to go through it any time there is any kind of food change.

We also had a T4 done on him for his thyroid. He itches the same places Scotty does. No other symptoms but Doc said he might just be starting to need meds.

Oh and I didn't put him in the crate, just put him in the van and he didn't make a sound. It's definitely the crate. Must have been something horrible that happened to him in one!

I can leave the house and he's ok. No crying. Unlike my own Scotty, who pitches a fit when we leave. But it's just for drama because we don't get 3' down the sidewalk and he's quit already. :)

Woooo Hooooo! No pooing on the carpet since we got back from the vet. He DID poo a little outside and it was still REAL runny so am hoping by tomorrow that will all heal itself.

I'm just glad I didn't have to do carpet again today!!!

Thanks! We've now made it 24 hours with no poo in the house! HURRAY! That sound you hear is very loud cheering!!!!!! :) :) :)

He actually went outside again one more time and I praised him like he'd won the gold medal. :)

I think he may be getting the hang of this!

Snoop found his forever family on Friday! I knew from talking to his new Mama that it was going to be a match made in heaven! His new Daddy and Mama just love him to pieces. Our rescue Pres. called and talked to them this evening and she said "WOW! They just love him to death!" I just knew they would. Couldn't help themselves!

It was fast! The new parents saw him on the website and fell in love. :)

I almost got another one today! Got an SOS call last night when the Pres of Sheltie Rescue couldn't find anyone at home. I told her I'd take the new one. She called back not long after and said one of the people she had called earlier returned her call. The other folks wanted to foster the dog with the idea of possibly adopting her. GREAT!

I told her I would foster but I need to be her "last on the list, back up emergency foster" and not to think I could keep one for a couple months. Because honestly, if I had to keep him much longer........I'd have been a failed foster mom again. He was just precious.

Thank goodness, she is very understanding.

Snoop's new mama called me today to report in. :) :) She said she knew I'd want to know that he's doing wonderfully well and they absolutely adore him.

I'm so thrilled!!

Especially since I seem to be fostering a beagle! My hubby called me Monday and said that a little beagle had turned up at his business. So I went out and got the little one. Small beagle yet full grown. Not a baby. Seems to be in good shape. Can feel ribs but not "hungry" ribs. Not afraid of people. Wiggles all over when petted.

And we can't find an owner. Told hubby I think the beagle was dumped. Contacted beagle rescue here in Indiana. It's full. The lady said she'd see what she could do but haven't heard from her again so am hoping she's still working on it.

The Midwest beagle rescue was full too.

This is a sweet little beagle and it needs a forever home...which is not mine.

My Sheltie is having NO part of the newbie at all! Growling and nasty. REALLY unhappy big time. The Sheltie mix is just happy go lucky and doesn't care if we have one newbie or ten! LOL

So this newbie needs to find a new place to live. *sigh* And I wanted it to go to rescue, not a humane society.

The Beagle Rescue in Indianapolis came through with a foster home for the beagle. Her name is now Gracie and she is a happy little girl in her new foster home. She's such a little sweetheart that unless she's got health issues we don't know about, she should be adopted quickly, I think.

I was so glad to send her to beagle rescue. My purebred Sheltie is still not back to normal and the beagle has been gone since Friday morning. I made sure he saw me take her out the front door. But I'm still having to get a slip lead and take him out the back door where she was. I've not seen him act this way before.

My husband says we need to be done fostering for a little bit to get the boys back to normal. I agree 100%. My boys come first.

Criosphynx, I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate you and your willingness to help/guide some of the rest of us. I can feed and walk but training? not a clue. So I read your posts with the utmost interest and incorporate what I need with my boys.

Just wanted you to know that you're appreciated.

Thank you.

Good news about the little beagle. She is heartworm negative! HURRAY! She had an infection in both ears and is getting meds for that.

And Scotty is starting to come around somewhat. He went out a couple times without me insisting. Progress!
