Hi all,

I just moved from LA to Berlin with my Malinois. the first 3 weeks after we arrived she was super happy, she was making friends, she was doing a lot better in training and agility. But then she felt sick and her nipples where swollen, we visited the vet and she said that the dog psychologically thinks she is pregnant. We were prescribed a medicine. physically she started feeling better, but mentally she is not. Like most Malinois she is a power plant, she never runs out of energy, she is social and friendly. But for about a week now she has been very quite, she hides in her kennel all day even if the door is open. She barks at strangers and dogs. She doesn't listen anymore, we usually walk off leash but now she doesn't come back when I call her. How can I help her?

Yes. I believe what you're describing is generally referred to as false pregnancy.

This is most definitely a thing. A good friend of mine had it happen to her French Bulldog.. she was almost nursing a stuffed animal she had as if it were her puppy.. and while I don't remember why exactly it happens.. I know that it's real and isn't necessarily so uncommon.
