Hi,
We have a 6 year old, male, west highland white terrier. He went outside in the garden and he came in with froth coming out of his mouth. We went outside and found a dead frog that had been bought back up in a sick form. He has been sick twice since.
What should we do....
thanks

Sounds like a toad rather than a frog. Toads have bumpy skin and secret some nasty stuff to make their predators sick. My pups seem to have to "learn" this lesson on a regular basis and they get over it after an hour of foaming and spitting. Sounds like your dog got a good strong dose of the toxic secretions. If you are really concerned, you could go to the internet to try to identify the species of toad. Some are truly toxic.

Is your dog staggering or looking disoriented? Or just vomiting and foaming.
Might be a good idea to call your vet, who might know what types of toads are in your area and if there are any that are more of a danger to dogs than just an irritant.

Uhm I always recommend you get to the vet. Things can affect different dogs differently....I hope you called your vet....

If you can give me your state and a descript I can ID the animal. If you want, but its sort of a moot point by now.

All amphibians have som' level of toxin, technically. Just som' species have it at a high level, and som' at an almost unnoticable level. Kinda like spider bites. One is not noticable, one ruins your day.

The main species you need to watch out for in the southwest US is this one, and it is active this time o' year. The colorado river toad.
