My family and I just discovered that the tumor on our black lab's elbow is 99% cancerous. We are getting his whole leg amputated tomorrow in hopes of having a few more years left with him. The cost of everything is 4,000$ at minimum... Needless to say, we dont have anywhere near that kind of money but we are not letting that stop us. We will have to pay that fee off for a very long time but its well worth it to save our dog's life and to keep him pain free.

You can likely get a leg amputation for much cheaper than that if you find a general practitioner comfortable enough to perform the surgery (this is a specialist rate it seems). I would look into other places more so.

Good luck.

That's fantastic that you are willing to do the surgery to keep him comfortable and happy. My boss just did a front leg amputation on an 8 year old Lab and she's doing amazing at 12 days post-op.
I second Holly's comment though... the surgery cost them about $800, pain meds and follow-up appts included.
Our babies are worth every single penny regardless, I hope he has a speedy recovery :)
