My dog is Trevor. He's a rescue that appears to be a terrier mix. I got him 3 years ago and he's now 6 or 7 years old. He lives with Saddie, a 4 year old Australian Shepherd/ German Shepherd mix. She's overly excitable but doesn't have any problems with noise.
Of course Trevor is afraid of loud noises, but we're able to cope with fireworks with just extra cuddles. The problem is smaller sudden noises and what I would call 'sharp' noises like a clicking pen or a latch on a box. He's even afraid when I clip my nails (I dunno if it's entirely the noise or if it's because he hates nail trims).
It seems like his noise sensitivity is a recent occurrence. It's only been in the last 6 months or less that I've been noticing him running away from things. He has a bed beside my desk that he always sleeps in. It's only when I make a noise like this that he'll look disturbed, then go find somewhere else to sleep. I just hate feeling like I'm scaring him all the time.
