Hello, I have a miniature dachshund who is just over 3 months old. He is constantly trying to bite feet, hands, arms, hair, ears, necks, faces and anything he can get his teeth around.
He has been ill since we bought him and has been on several sets of antibiotics which has meant that he could not have his vaccinations as they are not compatible; therefore he can not go outside for walks or to puppy socialising classes (as he may make other dogs ill). He is booked in to be reassessed by the vets next Friday; we are hoping that he will be allowed his first vaccination then. Obviously if he can have his first one, he still wouldn't be able to go outside for a further 3 weeks (so a week after his second booster). He will be going to a puppy training class once he is fully vaccinated.
He has a ridiculous amount of toys and spends very little time alone or in his crate. I am really struggling with his behaviour; I feel like it will improve once he can go outside (well I am praying)!
He will run after me and will bite my feet, ankles, legs and basically any form of skin he can get to; he also lunges for necks and faces and as he's becoming bigger, it's really hurting and in some cases, drawing blood.
We have a spray which defers him from biting 70% of the time (it's a dog deodorising spray which he hates). We say 'no' when we spray him and when his behaviour is unacceptable. I've also bought an antichew spray and spray myself and my clothes with it out of desperation; however it doesn't appear to work.
I know dachshunds are notoriously stubborn; however I am hoping that someone may have some advice on what to do
