FWIW, since you enjoy citing such detail and adding them to your comprehensive opinions, I thought I'd just let you know the layers of the tree which transports food, minerals and water is called the phloem and xylem. The vascular cambium layer is located between these two layers and is responsible for production of both xylem and phloem and by doing so, the tree's girth is increased over time.
