I saw this on another forum when the designer posted asking what we thought of it -

"I have been working on a personal project the past year which is basically a small ball that you attach to your standard dog leash to provide another point to hold on to.

The idea was born from wrapping my own dogs leash around my hand when I needed closer control - which works ok but after a while starts to hurt as although I consider my dog well behaved - she still gets a little excited and just loves to pull on a leash.

I've noticed people tie knots or loops in their leashes to offer something similar to what I have come up with. "

Mingus and Dottie Try It: Lead Mate - Dog Milk

I was interested in this as I have rheumatoid arthritis and a poor grip and Jaan sent me a one free. Its a simple but effective idea and I have found it really useful, its easy to grip and gives me more control than resorting to wrapping the lead round my hand and much less painful. While my JRT/Staffie walks well on a loose lead, its helpful for the times he gets excited for example when a cat strolls in front of him.

IF Jaan gets enough orders through Kickstart, he will be able to produce and sell these soon and 10% donation for each one sold will go to dog rescues. I have already ordered another one . I have no commercial interest in Leadmate but I hope it takes off as its a great product.

I found this (on dogforum I think haha) the other day and think it's a really cool idea, especially for longer-than-average leads. I like to walk Kasper on a 6ft lead and it would be really handy when walking on roads that are quiet (but where there could be the occasional car or other dog) to have a Lead Mate to grab onto a few feet down!

I was slightly concerned that the lead could slip through the Lead Mate, but in one of the videos on kickstarter it showed a guy hanging off it haha :)

In the article dibbythedog linked to it does say the Lead Mate will actually be smooth...I wondered if it would be better if it was slightly ridged, more grip?

*shrug* still want some though :D

Has it already been mentioned on here? I saw it first on Dogsey.

As far as I know, there's only once size and the circumference is 16 and a half cm or 6 and a half inches . jaan said it's a couple of CMs bigger than a golf ball though its not as round. It's light but durable, I have small hands and it fitted comfortably.

You might have a point about it better to be slightly ridged, they are very small ridges. I use a flat lead and grip the leadmate with the lead between my fingers as shown in the second photo down with the red leashmate. I find it comfortable but don't what it would feel like with a round lead.

perhaps , you could contact him to ask questions or I could invite him here to answer them .
What do you think?
