I'll be picking up my new Lakeland Terrier pup/dog on Saturday and he is 6/7 months old (exact DOB to be received soon). Firstly would he still be classified as a puppy, in terms of food etc?

Does anyone here own a lakie and can offer any general advice? I've searched the forum and not found anything really directed to Lakelands in particular. As part of the terrier group I understand their stubbornness and patience towards them will be very important.

Also at his age, can I still enroll him in puppy socialisation classes?

He is currently being kept as an outside dog and isn't allowed inside, but I will be keeping him as an inside dog.

I'm really looking forward to having him as part of our family and also mentally ready for the forcefulness of a terrier!

Congrats! I dont know Lakelands but I know Terriers- Westies previously and now I have a Schnauzer. Yes they are willful but they are also spirited, independent and loyal. He will keep you on your toes. Since he has been an outside dog he may be easy to housebreak since he is not used to going in the house. Puppy obedience class is a great idea. Puppy food-yes and good quality as Terriers as a group have a tendency to develop dry skin and allergies if fed a low quality food. We were always advised by breeders to stay away from beef and corn with Terriers. I am excited for you. Good luck with you new little boy! Hopefully someone who knows Lakelands will be along soon.

Congratulations on your new family member!

For puppy classes (I'm thinking you're asking about the meet-greet, play type classes, not obedience), it depends on where you go. Most of the puppies in those type of classes will be much younger (and smaller) than your pup. For safety, they most likely have a maximum age. When we adopted Quest (at 6 months) he was too old for the puppy meet-greets in our area. We did sign up for beginning obedience though.

Your pup would still be on puppy food. You can look at changing it when he is a year old.
