We have a four year old Jack Russell mix. He’s 45 lbs and we cannot figure out what he is mixed with. We always assumed maybe a mix of terriers and he does have a tendency to curl his paw and point when he sees an animal in a tree.

I saw a rat terrier today and was surprised at how much they looked alike with the pointy ears. He is definitely not a digger though and I can’t see him being a hunting dog, mostly because he is scared of everything. I would love to get a DNA test done but I’ve heard so many stories about how inaccurate they are.

Any ideas? Our vets both think he is a beagle and Jack Russell but I just don’t see beagle at all. Plus he’s very muscular and close to 45 lbs.

Hmm, I don't know. I see different aspects of jack russell, beagle, staffy and boston terrier - but maybe that's just me! The jack russell is definitely prominent but he's definitely mixed with a few larger breeds I'd say :)
