Were I live we gets lots of ticks, on top of that I live in a state with lots of ticks. Ive also heard its going to be a bad tick year in general. This of coarse means there's no shortage of them on the dogs, especially Maye as she is a tick magnet. I usually find them on her and she gets generally twice as many as Sawyer does. Right now there both on a topical tick repellant, but I'm going to try Maye on a collar with a different brand. There's a possibility that she's having semi allergic reactions to tick bites and has these little to large little scabby bumps (my vet thinks some of them could be from bug or tick bites and some could be from a dermatitis or one of those could be the cause for all of them). I'm going to have to give her a bath soon as her white feet have grass stains and are dirty from all the rain and wet weather we've been having. So I was wondering if bathing her in a tick repellant shampoo (not medicated but all natural as to not cause problems with her current repellant) would be worth it.
Any one else live in a high tick area, what do you do to help keep them off your dog?

For most of our clients the frontline or NexGard is enough to keep ticks at bay. We do have a handful of clients that actively hunt with their dogs and they all swear by the seresto tick collars. They either have their dogs were them during the entire tick/hunting season, or just when they go on a hunt. Either way they seem quite pleased with the collars and haven't had any issues with ticks or reactions to their dogs.

I no longer recommend using flea and tick products that contain insecticides. Too much research at potentials for long-term problems. We have lots of ticks in our area and I recommend using natural products to repel them. There are some nice essential oil blends that are made for dogs to repel fleas and ticks. I don't know if I can give names here but if you PM me, I will give you some names. You can certainly Google for this information. Good luck.
