Yes it is possible. I rent and have dogs! The landlord is awsome and loves dogs so he doesn't seem to mind. My dogs are quieter then most kids and a lot less destuctive! They did increase my pet deposit though.
The thing is it will depend on where you are moving too, and if they allow pets. Also like Aprcarls said it will depend on size. The main thing from when I was looking was size, number of dogs and wether they are housebroken. Also, breed may play apart as well.
