Hey guys! My name is Kelsey and I am a proud momma of my Bichon named Sawyer :) I've been reading this message board for a long time and finally joined to ask a quick question!

I was with Sawyer at the groomer and we were discussing some of the behavioral issues I'm having with him. Nothing major...just the usual things dog owners experience. I've also been trying to teach him tricks, but he wasn't picking up on them. She mentioned that I can bring him in and she will assist in training free of charge, but my schedule is busy during her downtime. She told me about something called The Online Dog Trainer (http://www.TrainDogsOnline.org) and I'm wondering what you guys think of this! Apparently it's the latest and greatest way to train your dog and teach lots of tricks.

Just wanted to consult the experts first :huddle::thumbsup:

In my opinion, there are so many free resources out there (if you don't have serious behavioural issues, which it sounds like you don't) that it seems ridiculous to shell out money for someone you'll never meet.

I would check out the Stickies on this forum, and YouTube (Kikopup, Zac George, Pam Johnson [Pam's Dog Academy), or trainers like Denise Fenzi (who has an awesome Blog, books, etc).

He seems like he's into positive training, but I don't know, I wouldn't personally.

I also would just go for free options.

Online training is becoming more popular, but I wouldn't use it unless I had serious issues and absolutely didn't have access to a trainer.

Have you looked into any training clubs in your area? Many will have fairly inexpensive training classes you can sign up for and they usually have varied times to meet various schedules. You can learn a lot and they are a lot of fun too. :)

There's not much info to tell what method's Doggy Dan uses and for that reason alone I refuse to put out money only to find out that I don't agree with his methods.

I recommend Kikopup, she has many completely free videos on youtube and if you decide you really like her methods and want to go more in depth, or need more help, then you can buy a membership that she offers. Here's a link to check out Dogmantics Dog Training
