Hi Everyone!
Usually I wake up in the morning and say "Hi!" to my mom and dad. Then, I give my parents a hug. Lately, whenever I do that if I don't say "Hi!" to my dog before my parents, he jumps up and starts trying to lick my face, demanding that he gets attention immediately. Today, he did that. I am a little worried because I don't want him to be so upset, but then I don't want to have a jealous dog. I don't think that a behaviorist is a necessity, I believe that he doesn't need one.

Is this a normal puppy thing, or is this something I should address with a professional?

Try giving him a sit command before your hug your parents. It might reassure him that everything is ok. Some dogs don't know how to interpret humans hugging each other. The licking sounds like he's offering some appeasement behavior and maybe it's because the hugging is making him a little nervous. Giving him a default behavior to do may make him stop licking.
