Dear dog lovers! I need your help.

My mother is a wonderful artist, especially of animals and I am trying to create a shop for her customized dog portraits on Etsy. I am currently doing a course about it, where they recommend us to talk to our ideal clients.

I would love to interview some of you, preferably dog moms and dads between 50-65 years, that have already bought a painting/portrait of their dogs or have thought about it.

It'll take us about 10-15minuts. You can write me a personal message or answer this post.

It would mean the world to us, so thank you in advance for your kindness and time!

PS: I am amazed at what a wonderful flow this whole forum has. Hopefully, more and more people start to love dogs, dogs make our life definitely better.

Hi LMMB!! Thank you for your fast response.
In the course, they told us to try to narrow down as much as we could our ideal client, and I thought it probably could be someone of this age. But of course, any help from "any age" would be welcome 😊

Not necessarily. I'm not tutor, but I wonder if you perhaps misunderstood the instruction?

Instead of narrowing down the demographic by age, consider your artwork;

Q: What do you want to concentrate on?
A: Dogs.

Q: Can you narrow that down any further?
A: Of course you can. For starters, you have the 7 groups that breeds are categorised into (according to Crufts) - Working, Utility, Toy, Hound, Gundog, Pastoral, Terrier. You could add an 8th in the form of rescue dogs "Scruffts"

Let's say you decide to concentrate on the Gundog Group.

Q: Can you narrow that down any further?
A: Of course you can. You can narrow down by the life stage of the dog, by breed, etc.

Let's say you choose to concentrate on adult Labradors.

Now you've narrowed down your client base from potentially the whole world, to only the owners of Adult Labrador Retrievers.

That's still a huge client base, so how else can you narrow it down?

Well, you could look at dogs bred for show, or actual working dogs.

Let's say you want to concentrate on working dogs.

Dogs > Labrador > Adult > Working.

That's a much narrower field. And for the purpose of the questionnaire/interview, that might be specific enough. If not, how else can you narrow it down?

Well, now you look at their owners.

Where are they? Your own country, or abroad? If abroad, why? Different attitude towards dogs? (Possibly suggested by your own OP). A particular look or feel that you're going for that is lacking in Spain? The price the client is willing to pay? (Which might come under Attitude Towards Dogs). Something else?

All of which narrows down your perfect target market with no mention of the client's age range.;)
