i already have a 10 year old westie who is a female, i'm looking to buy a french bulldog and i'm seriously unsure on whether a female or male is the better option. My westie i have currently is timid and shy but gets on well with other dogs. she is sent to a dog nursery every so often to keep the socialising aspect of the breed still there and she isn't aggressive, just a bit timid. i'm a bit scared of getting a female in case my current dog may get jealous and the only reason i would like another dog, is to make the current dog less lonely and perk her mood up as she does suffer from dog depression since shes has phantom pregnancy's. ive looked into males however the mark their territory, but is it worth a good relationship between male and female dog and have marking or is it a really bad idea to get another female? HELPPPPPPP :ponder: :ponder: :ponder:

Not all male dogs will mark. My Aussie is almost 3, and has never marked inside the house. As long as you potty train appropriately, you shouldn't have problems with marking, even in intact males.

Male-Female tends to be the easiest, but you know your dog the best. I will say, Frenchies can be quite pushy and play rough, so that might be something to consider with a senior dog.
