We are watching my moms dog noticed her back nails needed trining they were almost touching the pads on her feet. She did not like it we wrapped her in a towel and trimmed them. She went to her bed and has not come out. I took her out to give her a belly rub and noticed this protruding out of her. What is this do I need to take her to the vet? I’m including a phot of her and the protruding thing

Hi, welcome to the forum.

Is it that pinkish growth or her tail between her legs that we’re looking at? Could you get a pic of her whole tummy for context?

In general though, if a dog runs and hides, it’s best to leave them and let them come out in their own time.

This is especially the case when the dog is in a relatively strange environment.

Could you also take another photo from behind? As in her standing facing away from you, with her tail out of the way and her rear exposed.

My first thought was it is her vulva. It is a slightly odd shape though. Below is a typical one, for reference. Can you photograph from the other angle?

Well, It certainly is in the correct place for a vulva but what a strange shape !

As mentioned above can you take a picture the other way round as the one in the above picture.

That's apart of her lady bits. Dogs have weird looking privates.
