My little dog has diarrhea. Yellowish (yellow/very light brown) soft but also watery.
She also scoots (is that the word, 'scoots') after the (attempted) bowel movement.
Anyway, I am reading that you fast the dog for 12 - 24 hrs but it's 12 hrs of no food and only allow fresh water?
Can someone confirm or advise?
The diet after the 'fast' is either ground chicken or boiled or cooked chicken. Which one (and how prepared)?
Also, include boiled white rice or do you boil the rice and then offer the water from it?
Some recommend cooked ground chicken but I think that will be too fatty/greasy.
So, maybe boiled white rice and boiled chicken breast then serve together?
I also read that pure pumpkin is good to offer, too, so what do you think of that?
My dog hasn't had bowel problems for a while so I forget what the exact treatment is. This is going on the 2nd day so if I can clear it up by today with one of these 'treatments', I guess I should call the vet on Tues? (Mon. here is a holiday).
She seems to still have an appetite so I don't think there is a serious stomach or intestinal problem (yet) - knock on wood - hope I'm right.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions and advice.
