I am set to receive a dog (Lord willing) in about two weeks from someone, and I need some serious advice on how to train this pup: Her name is "Puppy" (at least for now) and she will be 1 year old on July 17, and has had ZERO training. Puppy lives with 6 other dogs and 4 cats all inside a filth heap. I know for a fact that none of these animals are potty trained, though the cats have litter boxes but they are never clean when I have been there. The animals literally go to the bathroom wherever they take a notion to, including on the bed. (Yes, I am completely serious) Obviously, I have no intention of allowing Puppy to turn my home into a local dump, but I have no clue how to teach this dog proper potty etiquette. We have two other dogs already, and we keep newspaper down in a designated area for when they can't go out, and they get to go outside for the rest of the time. Can anyone tell me how to train this new sweetie pie to become a potty champ in a gently trained way? God bless you!

I think it's very noble to rescue a puppy from what sounds to be hellish conditions, have you considered what impact a young dog like this will have on your two other dogs. ?
You say that your two dogs you already have use paper to toilet in the house when they can't go out, how long are they expected to hold off before getting out ?
This could quite easily end in very similar conditions as the ones your taking the puppy out of.
Three dogs going to toilet anywhere they like.
