Both my little terriers have their way of telling me to pull their blanket over the top of them. They look at me and use pawing jesters to let me know what they want.

I've seen a TV commercial that shows a dog pulling a blanket over himself.

How do you teach a dog to do that?

With my dog, who will burrow himself under the blankets, I just consistently said "under the covers!" or "take cover!" every time he as about to go under. Eventually when I said it he would run under and snuggle up. It's really cute. :)

Roman does not do that (too hot) and sleeps atop blankets.
But my mother in law's chi does sorta.
She just look for the opening and burrows under into the blanket.

My friend noticed this thread and she is also interested in how to teach that for her dog, Lotta. She could try that some day.

My friend has seen videos about it (for example the one below).
She thinks she could try also this some day. (Her dog cannot roll over yet)
