neither. Jack russells are extremely high energy dogs who need considerable amounts of training. Basenji's are high energy dogs who do best within a pack of dogs or people, and not alone.

Thank you! Can you recommend something? I would also like to travel with it in a future

I think it would help if you provided a little bit more background information on yourself and your lifestyle.
  • Is this your first dog?
  • How much exercise can you give a day?
  • What size range are you looking for? (You may also have to check with your apartment complex)
  • How do you feel about grooming?

Ive just graduated and currently working in a startup fulltime. Im very active, trying to go the gym 4 times a week and like to travel.
Yeah, it will be my first dog. My girlfriend has a Jack Russel and I really like him, thats why I was thinking to have one=)
Im looking for not very big size, so that I can take with me on plane. Probably not more than 10 kg.

Thank you very much for your help!
Jack Russells are pretty intense little dogs. They have some terrier attitude, but they're cool dogs. What do you like about your girlfriend's dog? Have you ever taken care of him without your girlfriend?
I'd say something in the line of pug,(though they may not travel well) brussells griffin, bichon, puggle and maybe a rat terrier. Is your friend's JRT a purebred? Rat terriers who are mixed with a slightly bigger dog often get labeled JRT's by shelters. I really like puggles. I know a reputable hobby breeder/trainer and while I know it's slightly skewed becuase they are well bread, I find them delightful little dogs.

As a note, I've owned 2 JRT, one purebred one JRT/Fox mix. The mutt was a total terror no matter how much I excercized her, how much I worked she was very smart and wanted everyone to know it.
