Hey Everyone!
I am Alyona. Well, actually my name is Lauren. I currently own two dogs:
Jake, a Boxer. He is 5 years old and is quite large for his breed. We get people telling us all the time how big he is. He loves cuddles and can't hold his "licker".
And Shelby, an Australian Shepherd. She is as dumb as a doornail. I have spent hours upon hours trying to teach her something-- anything! However, she has a dead tooth, so we think it's possible she was kicked in the head by a horse at her previous home. I had gotten her from a woman that owns a stable I used to board my horse at. So being kicked in the head is a high possibility, in which case, I don't blame her for being stupid. :)

I am currently raising and training a Guide Dog puppy. So I have three dogs in the house right now.
My pup's name is Spike, and I am raising him through a non-profit organization called Guide Dogs for the Blind. What I do with Spike is basic training and socialization. I get him for roughly a year before he is recalled back to San Rafael, California for his formal training. If he passes all 10 phases of formal training, he will be placed with a blind person.

I have had Spike since July 9th of this year. He has already learned all the commands he needs to learn and now it's just a matter of perfecting them. He is so smart, it almost scares me! I've never had a puppy that has learned commands so fast. Spike is my baby. He goes with me EVERYWHERE, and now whenever I go somewhere without him, it feels really weird. (Although, the last time I left him at home was like before he was potty trained, so about 2 months ago.)

I will be attending Utah Valley University this January, and I will get the opportunity to take Spike to classes with me. Hopefully having him there with me will make the classes seem less dreadful.

Anyway, can't wait to get to know you guys and your canines!

Welcome!! I'd love to be a raiser too-Dave won't because he doesn't want to part with them, but how cool is that-you get a puppy and you get to take it everywhere. It's sad to let them go, but then you get another puppy!!

Love to see pics when you can :)
