I just picked this guy up today. He's 7 months old. His paperwork says border/lab but his mottling makes me think he's not lab but springer spaniel.

Because if I understand genetics right, a Merle BC bred to a solid lab wouldn't create this look. I owned a field ESS before and I'm more reminded of him than a lab. But his ears have the lab prick to them. Maybe he's all 3?

He seems to weigh around 45/50lbs and roughly 20-22 inches at the shoulder, if that helps.
