I understand that coonhounds are vocal dogs but my new coonhound continues to bark at me and the other dog. Is there a way to keep him from barking all the time? Is there a way to make him stop with training? Is he doing this bc he's in a unfamiliar place? Will it calm after he's used to us?

I feel your pain. I also have a hound and he barks at other dogs and at us. He stands in the yard and barks to get use to come out and play with him. At night when he wants dinner and we are a little late he will bark to let us know he is hungry. Hounds are very vocal. No one knows how loud they are until you have one in your home. I have had mine for 10 years and he has been trained to stop barking at other dogs ( most of the time ) These two videos from kikopup helped a lot.

He will continue to bark at my pit bull bc he wants to play. How do I tell him to peace her alone and calm down. He keeps my boyfriend up at night because he just keeps barking

How old is he? The best thing is to ignore them when they bark otherwise they learn that barking gets them what they want. If he's bothering your other dog you can give him time outs in the crate or behind a gate, when he's quiet he's allowed to come out. Make sure you do not give any attention while he's barking (don't look at or talk to him). You can try teaching a 'quiet' by holding a treat in your fist and saying 'quiet' and then treating him when he's quiet. Hounds are vocal though, it's just part of who they are.
