Morning everyone! I was hoping someone could help me with a small problem (not REALLY a problem, but anyway). My 4-month-old puppy, Luna, is incredibly sweet and very attached to her people. She wants to play 100% of the time she's awake, which is great! We have a lot of fun with her. Since she spends about 4 hours each day in a crate while we're at work, I do my best to make up for that by being very attentive to her in the evenings, taking her for long walks as soon as I get home, etc.

I currently have a big freelance project I need to work on for a couple of nights, and the problem is I can't get Lu to leave me alone She's not very trustworthy on her own yet; if she isn't getting attention, she tends to be destructive and get into a lot of things. Which I assume is to be expected because of her age. But just for a few days while I finish this project, I need a good way to keep her entertained, without my having to "help" her much, for a decent chunk of time (preferably at least 30 minutes or so at a stretch). I've tried freezing Kongs, but she tends to lose interest in those, as well as chew sticks. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem with my dog, though he is apparently just over a year old. Maybe if she was a bit hungry, she would work at the kong/chewie with more intensity. What kind of chew sticks are you using? Have you tried a bully stick? There's also a great website for other food puzzle toys, I think it is called Firecracker? Does she do any fetch? That would really tire her out fast, then she might settle down to chew for a while. Maybe you could put her in a X-pen with an assortment of things such as toys, cardboard box, chewies--throw something new in once in a while.

If she is loosing interest in the toy there are 2 possible problems

1. Freezing the kong is too difficult for her. Try putting in some loose food and maybe a few that are soaked in water. Those will stick to the sides of the kong.

2. What you have in there isn't motivating. Do the top one first, if she still isn't interested put some beef, chicken, cheese, or peanut butter inside.
