My 10 yr old shepherd mix has a histiocytoma on her paw. She was diagnosed with it in September and he gave me antibiotics and it regressed. Last Wednesday she had dental surgery and last night, I left her in the car for awhile while I was in the vets office ( getting 2nd opinion on my little dog's disc injury in her neck), get back in the car, and there is blood everywhere. The tumor came back with a vengeance. Got home and noticed she was continuously licking it. I put some ointment on it, wrapped it, and she had that wrap off in 10 min. Then I find blood on the kitchen floor. Lots of it.

So today I'm at work all day, callled vet 2x as to what to do until I can get her there Friday at the earliest. He never called me back.

Anybody ever have this and know what I can do? I have some antibiotic powder I can put on it cause I don't know if its hurting her or not and I'm worried. I'm thinking that somehow the surgery last week lowered her immune system and caused this thing to return. With a vengeance. Should I try neosportin?

Any help or experience with this would be appreciated. Thank you. I can't miss anymore work this week as I already took 2 1/2 days for Mandy's disc issue and Coda's teeth. I am at work from 6:30am to 6:30pm. Friday is the 1st day I can take her in.

Thx.

I'm a little confused of why you didn't take her into the vet considering you saw a car full of blood while in a vet's parking lot. Take her in on your lunch break. She needs to go though.

I didn't see the blood all over the back seat until the next morning when and didn't see the blood on the floor in the kitchen until later that night. I ended up taking her yesterday, Friday, and he said it was infected. My job is 1/2 hr to 45 min from my house and my lunch is 1/2 hr. There's no way to do that without missing work which was impossible since I just got back from vacation and had to miss over 2 days with Mandy.

So yesterday, he said it's infected and should clear up with antibiotics he gave me. I don't know. She's 10 1/2 and just went under for her teeth. I don't think she can have another surgery right now. Just crossing my fingers.
