My 3-year old Dachshund Sophie slipped a disc today. She's now on cage rest for four weeks in hopes surgery won't be necessary. Cage rest sucks! She's an active dog, and not used to being locked in her crate. I'm going along with the instructions, but could use any suggestions, positive stories, on surviving this time and making it as good as possible for her. Thanks!

Its a difficult situation at best, but the Vet and you know what is best for her. The closest we came, was with a back injury Samantha sustained, but we only had to restrict her from climbing steps, so we put gates up to block her. She hated it, but it only lasted for a couple of weeks, and she is fine now. Cage rest would, indeed be a different challenge. Wish you best, hang in there, she will be fine.
