If the dog is really drinking excessively I'd be bringing him to the vet and doing a full workup to ensure that nothing physical is wrong. Anything from diabetes to kidney issues can cause excessive drinking. "Two bowls" is a pretty abstract amount, so it's hard to say whether that's too much or not enough water. But do be aware that there are medical conditions that can increase thirst, and that it is possible to drink too much water.

Now, assuming it's not medically related I'd suggest either adding more water bowls (more than two large ones) and/or and automatic waterer. I have one with a large reservoir that holds more water than any reasonable dog can drink in one sitting...
