Again, not really sure where to post this...

So I wanted to take Tucker to Gatlinburg, TN for two days (one night) but I'm having a hard time finding a hotel. Well, a hotel that allows larger breed dogs. The only other options seem to be privately owned houses where I'll be sharing common areas with other people, and with Tucker's barking we're sure to get kicked out in no time. He does fine in hotel/motel type settings though. I've searched BringFido and haven't found much, but if you know of any other good websites for searching or know of any decent hotels in the area that aren't outrageously priced please let me know.

Have you tried looking for hotels in Pigeon Forge also? Me and Jayne actually went there on vacation last year and we stayed in a cabin in Pigeon Forge, it's right next to Gatlinburg, a 2 minute drive at most. We saw a lot of bigger dogs there, so I'm assuming there must be a cabin or hotel that allows larger dogs.

It's weird they don't have more large dog friendly options considering how pet friendly the area is. I mean, there's even a small mall that allows dogs.

This time of year might be hard for Gatlinburg hotels, though. It's a very popular tourist destination in the spring/summer time.

I thought it'd be more big dog friendly, but it might just be booked up for the time I'm requesting. Pigeon Forge is a good idea! I'll definitely check there. Luckily my travel dates aren't set in stone, I just want to go before it gets too cold.

Where do you recommend taking dogs there? Tucker does fine when he's just walking past people, but doesn't like high energy people (children) or when people try to pet him. I know people will probably approach anywhere, but if it's just one or two incidents it won't freak him out and he can move on mentally pretty well. Do you have any restaurants/shops/hiking trails/parks that are dog friendly and won't mind the occasional (not obsessive) bark from him that you'd recommend? Tucker enjoys traveling, we're just still in the socializing process.

My husband and I rented an awesome cabin there on our honeymoon. Its been a while now but I remember some being pet friendly.

I really liked the boardwalk/carnival place, but it might be a bit too much excitement for Tucker. The Village Shops are super cute and fun to walk around the area. It says there's a pet store there online, but it's no longer there. Oddly enough, the sky lift allows dogs, but I was way to scared to do that with Jayne lol. Pretty much anything outside allows dogs along with the mall with a pet store in it. I would also check out the trails.

There's campgrounds in Pigeon Forge too that you can try, they might have reasonably priced cabin rentals. Pet Friendly Campgrounds in Pigeon Forge, TN, US

OH. And there's a pet store somewhere in The Village Shops, but not the one you find online. It sells plain white doggy t-shirts that you can take to the airbrush place and make a souvenir t-shirt for your dog. (If you're into that kinda thing like I am lol)

Thank you so much for all the information! I'm definitely into the doggy t-shirts (much more than Tucker is...). It looks like it was a lot of fun and I'll have to upload pictures of our trip after we go. I might go in the late fall/winter time since I think Tucker would enjoy the snow and we never get any this far down in Alabama.
That mall sounds really neat. I might try taking Tucker there after we've been hiking all day and he's tired out. He barks much less when he's tired lol
