Hello! Thanks for any help! :)

Our chocolate lab (Tobi) passed away at only 6.5 years old due to osteosarcoma. We tried to extend his life by doing amputation and chemo but the cancer was too aggressive and had spread to his lungs. Therefore, we had to make the difficult decision to let him go. It was definitely the hardest moment of our lives. After his passing, we were not sure when we would be ready for another dog. Our other dog is getting older and the passing of Tobi made us realize that we miss having that happy, bubble, and loved up energy of our lab.

I've been looking for the past couple of months for Labrador retriever breeders. I've been on a few waitlists for a couple months, but I have this fear of commitment because I don't know if I could watch any of my other furry family members go through any pain similar to Tobi's. Tobi's passing has caused me to be extremely picky and "on alert" with breeders.

My question: Has anyone else experienced this fear of future commitment and how did you overcome it?
