Good Evening!

About a week ago my 7 year old Golden Retriever presented with a head tilt, confusion, unsteady walk and a clear discharge from his nose.

After going to my regular vet and the emergency clinic I requested a referral for an MRI and so so glad a I did! He was diagnosed with Encephalitis and I think he wouldn't have a fighting chance without the MRI......

He is unfortunately still pretty sick and fighting it. Sometimes treatments will work and in some cases they won't. I'm heartbroken, concerned and just praying it will turn out ok.

Anyone have experience with this? Have heard that dogs can sometimes get illness - like distemper - from other dogs even though they have been vaccinated. He was going to the dog sitter at least 3-4 times per week. On top of the 4 meds he is taking now is there anything else I can do to help him holistically etc....?

Appreciate any advice or expertise.

Thanks!
