My Boston Terrier was scratching his one ear really hard last night and shaking his head. So I looked in and didn't see coffee grind type debris, but did see this black stuff. So I took some water/vinegar and took a cotton swab and Qtip to get it out. It came out, and he didn't seem as agitated after. But I am still worried. Can anyone tell if it's mites or not? Here is a before and after of when I cleaned it. Sorry to be so gross :D
Thanks!

Don't use water to clean it, it can get into ear and cause big issues down the track.
That looks like regular wax to me .

If it's ear mites it'll be back by tomorrow, it will also most likely, but not always, stink.

You can always use ear cleaner for dogs if it's wax. If that doesn't help, I'd get ear mite drops
