Good evening,

My 18 month Maltese recently got spayed about 9 days ago (10/28/2019). Her incision site has been healing well and was scabbing. It had no signs of infection such as redness, pus none of that.

However, last night the E-collar came off and she was able to access her incision site and licked it to hell - she removed all of the scabs and what's left is her raw skin.

Attached is a pic of her incision now (before licking vs. after). Should I be worried and bring her to a vet? or is it healing normally?

Thank you for the help. I may just be a tad paranoid but we're so close to the finish line - I'd rather not her have any complications. Thank you again.

If the picture on the left is before and the picture on the right is after then I would assume that it was only itchy and that's why she was licking it.

Neither picture looks open or infected to me but I must premise this by saying that I am NOT a veterinarian and have no medical training whatsoever to back up that assertion.

If you want to know for sure then take her back to the vet.

@Kyllobernese - Thank you for the reply. I set up an appointment tomorrow and I'll bring her in to get checked. I took a photo today and it looks much more closed off.
@dogslife - thank you anyways for the opinion. I did set up an appointment just to see if it's healing correctly and to know when she can return to normal activity. (Attached img was taken today, it does seem normal)
