Hello! And thank you for clicking on this post, This is my first post and i never used a forum really so bare in mind with me! :p

Okay, so my Yorkie Terrier will not poop when we want him to! We take him out in the back yard and all he wants to do is bark, And if its raining he does NOT want to go out! I know sometimes its cold here & its rainy in PA so I understand why he does not wanna go out. But it's really annoying when we take him out for maybe even over 15 mins and he does not poop then he poops in the house. Yes I do give him treats when he takes a poop, but I don't do it when he barks at people because I feel like that it's telling him its okay to bark. That's pretty much it, I'm looking forward for answers! Thank you for writing! :)

Need more info. How old is he? Was he well trained before? Is this new behavior and if so, maybe something happened in the back yard that scared him.

sorry for not more info! lol.
He is 3 years old, The ASPCA said that he was a stray, when my family & I were teaching him how to sit he did not really know it but he learned it really quick. He seemed to have been abused (if that helps) if you yell at him he hides a little. And nothing really scares him unless you push something at him or yell at him. hope that answers it a bit, don't know anything much sorry! we got him about 2-3 months ago.

Given that he's a stray and only a yorkie, I wouldn't withhold a treat when he poops outdoors for barking. That's too much for his poor little brain to handle and people can deal with a few yorkie barks now and again. Work on one thing at a time.

As seashoreduck said,

Don't worry too much about the barking. Treat him when he goes outside and work on 1 issue at a time. Make sure you feed him on a regular schedule, this way you can predict when he will go. Also make sure throughout the day you aren't treating too much. You want to give him the same amount of food regularly so that you can get him onto a proper pooping schedule :)

Make sure you clean wherever he poops with special cleaning products designed for dog accidents.

Whatever you do, don't yell or punish him when he poops in the house. Especially if he is already fearful. This isn't going to teach him anything, possibly even make it worse and teach him to hide and poop :\.
