Hi, I am a college student looking at making a phone app for a project. The app would provide a place for people to share routes and trails suitable for walking with pets. I'm just curious if people would be interested in using such an app and if so are there are any features you would like to see included?

I would like the app to indicate whether the area was off-leash or not

There is an app already for dog walking (Map my Dog Walk), but it just records how long you walked, where and number of calories used, stuff like that. Added features such as off-leash, or how busy it is, or if there is a dog park associated with the walk would be great.

Thank you both for your interest. My ultimate goal is that it would be community regulated. It would give people information such as how well lit up the route is, whether it was off leash area, traffic in the area etc

How about an ability for users to mark certain locations to avoid. For example, a known house with a reactive dog that makes a ton of noise and bashes the fence every time you walk by. Something like that.

Locations of doggy bag stations. For example, some apartment complexes have these stations. Someone who doesn't live there but is walking by could stop by and refill his bag if they unexpectedly ran low. Better than leaving a steamy pile on someone's front lawn. Since these stations can't often be seen from the main street, a more precise GPS location within the apartment complex could be helpful.

Ability to meet other neighborhood dog walkers based on common routes you've taken. Could do a group dog walk.


Something like that. Although, I can't say that I enjoy group dog walking. Sounds strange.
