My dog has a morning routine since we moved of grinding each side of his neck and body outside against the stucco on the house. He’s been shredding through collars. I tried the tough nylon military grade ones and between 1-3 months they’re destroyed.

Is there a different type of collar I could try? Any suggestions beyond that.

That is a very odd behavior. I would look into why he is doing that. Do you tie him up or is he just going to that spot and doing that behavior. I think you are focused on the wrong problem. If you stop him doing the grinding you won't go through collars.

No never tie him up. Just let him out in the morning to do his routine. After the bathroom he likes a good scratch against the wall. Rather aggressive about it. Shreds through collars as a side affect. Does it a few times a day actually.

In our old house we had real grass and I think he would usually just scratch his back on that. New place has fake grass and may not satisfy him the same? Maybe the wall has a more pleasant scent for him?

Why not just take his collar off when you let him out to do his routine? If your yard is fenced, I see no issue with letting your dog out without a collar for a little bit. Neither of my dogs ever wear a collar around the house or backyard, but they are both microchipped, and I don’t leave them outside unsupervised.

Wow that's crazy and I bet frustrating. Have you considered trying a Biothane collar? They are made of a pretty tough materiel. I have the beta/biothane for my dogs and love it for the waterproof and leather feel but it might also hold up against your dogs quirk. I get mine from Undercontrol company at clipemup .com
