I'm Jesse, I have an sweet, very energetic 10 month old mixed breed rescue named Ruben. We began taking him to a local dog park a few months ago and I found myself wondering why aren't there more ideal, convenient places to take our dogs? Someplace safe, fenced and grassy? Our choices are slim and all are so dirty. We have to bathe him after each visit - worried that will cause him to get dandruff.

Is this the norm for dog parks in other places? I would seriously pay for a dog park membership to a clean, members only dog run if it existed!! Does anybody know of a better place for our pup to play on Long Island?:ponder:

Not sure about Long Island, but I do understand what you're talking about. The one in my hometown is large but has dirt patches next to the pool and the people are sooooo uppity about their dogs. The one the next town over is smaller but has much more grass. Maybe you could start a petition and raise funding or something? Not sure how it works, but the park near my college had bad drainage design and it was making the place muddy, so they did a couple of fund raising events and got it fixed. Good luck on it though! Living in one of the rainiest places in the US has made me appreciate grassy dog parks :D
